In a perfect world, parents would be able to spend all their time with their children. We want to be able to give our kids the best experience of life and ensure they remain safe while having fun and receiving the best education. However, life doesn’t work that way. We have to work, go to school to get a degree, and take care of all the other necessary errands to upkeep the life we have. In addition to that, we have to be careful with our decision on who watches the baby while we’re gone.
Trust
Trust is one thing when it comes to a grandparent, aunt or uncle — but it’s a different ballpark when it’s a complete stranger. This is why when it comes to choosing the right daycare, we spend hours scouring the internet for daycares with the best reviews, the shortest distance to home/work, and affordable prices. Lily’s Lighthouse Childcare knows that’s not an easy task.
The cherry on top of that “stress sundae” is that some of us feel guilty leaving our little ones behind. Here’s why you should feel more at ease with your child being enrolled into Lily’s Lighthouse Childcare; A new study published in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health concludes that “high-quality centre-based childcare may be linked to lower levels of emotional symptoms.” Basically, being around children their age, under the supervision of professionals is really good for kids’ emotional and prosocial development.
The Research
This study (done in France) showed that a good daycare had positive long-term affects on children. Children who attended high-quality center-based care for at least one year had lower rates of emotional, conduct, relationship and attention problems later in life than kids who were watched by a family member or babysitter. The study’s authors suggest interactions with trained staff in the centers, along with having to follow rules and getting extra stimulus from playing in the supportive environment give kids a social and behavioral boost.
Dr. Jillian Roberts, a child psychologist and associate professor at the University of Victoria, told Global News, “These programs include not only play and socialization, but also educational and nutritional components from highly-trained early childhood education professionals.”
Our daycare checks all of these boxes. We know just how crucial it is to create a safe, loving environment for your child, all while giving them opportunities to grow in knowledge and social interactions. We stand by this model for our center.
